About the event
The Idlewild History Tour is a special guided bus experience exploring the historical significance of Idlewild, Michigan, one of the most important Black resort communities in the United States. This 2-hour interpretive tour highlights the people, places, and institutions that shaped Idlewild’s development as a center of Black leisure, entrepreneurship, artistic expression, and community leadership.
Designed as the introductory experience for the HITS 20 Year Anniversary Awards Dinner, this tour provides historical context that connects directly to the mission of preserving and sharing Idlewild’s cultural legacy through education, heritage tourism, and public humanities programming.
