The Idlewild Juneteenth Festival is an annual celebration of freedom, culture, and heritage set in one of America's most historically significant Black resort communities.  It brings together music, education, community, and remembrance in a powerful expression of joy and legacy.

2026 Theme: Foundational Black Americans Tribute

Celebrate freedom, honor Black history, support local businesses, and preserve the legacy of Idlewild, Michigan—one of the most historically significant Black resort communities in the United States.

 

Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Location: Williams Island, Idlewild, Michigan 

 

Parade: 11:30 AM

 

Festival: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

 

Evening Comedy Show: 7:00 PM

 

Sunday Service: First Baptist of Woodland Park

The Idlewild Juneteenth Festival is guided by a working committee committed to organization, accountability, community outreach, and the preservation of festival identity. The 2026 structure is designed to distribute responsibilities more clearly and strengthen leadership across sponsorship, vendors, marketing, volunteers, parade coordination, and event logistics.
